“I’m going into rut.”
It is a weird thing to say at a train station this late at night with a takeaway ramen between them, but the confession is there now, waiting out in the open.
Yutaka turns to him, eyes wide. “Is that why you keep feeding me?”
“Feeding—? Wait, I’ve—” Heat flares on Minoru’s cheeks. “I know I’ve brought you a ton of food, but I didn’t think it was that bad.”
“I wasn’t going to mention it before, but…” Yutaka holds up his takeaway. “This is wagyu, isn’t it? This ramen? Didn’t you say this would cost half of your paycheck?”
And if Minoru wasn’t absolutely mortified before, he is now.
Or, the one in which Minoru goes into pre-rut and his hormones seem to think, since there's no bond, he and Yutaka aren't a sure thing. Cue: endless pining, copious amounts of food, an ill-timed rut, and ridiculous and unnecessary courting measures.
