Summary
Twentieth birthdays were special to the Avgin, and Aventurine is no exception. He may be the only one left, but that doesn't mean he's about to abandon his people's culture and ancient rituals. His journey is simple, return to Sigonia IV, find the old Avgin ritual site in the harshest desert on the planet, and complete the ritual on the night of Kakava.
But going into the desert alone is dangerous, and while Aventurine is fully confident he can handle it just fine, someone else is not so sure- and Aventurine can never turn Ratio down.
So it seems he isn't going alone.
Surely absolutely nothing good could come from dragging his crush through the Sigonian wastelands to partake in ancient Avgin traditions, right?

Summary
Aventurine's life after being adopted by Madam Jade has been nothing short of a dream. He has his own room at her vast estate, a warm bed, three square meals a day, and he's even being privately tutored and mentored by one of the shining stars of the Intelligentsia Guild, the illustrious and intimidatingly handsome Dr. Veritas Ratio.
The only thing is... Aventurine's got this vile itch under his skin. Evidently it's not so easy to leave Kakavasha behind, because what he's craving is Ratio's broad hands on him— hurting him, making him cry. Treating him like the Avgin whelp he still is, beneath all the neat, tailored clothes. His fantasies spur him to test the waters, seeing how far he can push Ratio, how easily he might be goaded into punishment fit for a Sigonian bed slave.
He doesn't expect Ratio to anticipate this, and he definitely doesn't expect him to agree to play along.
It comes at a high price, however... Aventurine's honesty about his desires.

Another year, another Kakava. For years (most of his life, actually) Aventurine would avoid anything that reminded him of the long-forgotten festival like the plague. Yet, a recent development in his personal life involving a certain doctor had gotten him thinking along more sentimental lines.
Before he knew it, Aventurine was on a frantic quest to perfectly recreate a dish from his childhood. Ratio, none the wiser, just wanted to know why his partner was now obsessed with herbs, making him live off stew and acting even more antsy than he usually did this time of year.

"Few people know how to truly relax," Ratio says, perched on the edge of Aventurine's desk. It makes his thighs double in size. Aventurine's thoughts begin to scatter. "Relaxation is a process. As such, naturally there are practical, step-by-step instructions to achieve it.”
"Right," he says, forcing his gaze away. "My, doctor, could one take a guess and assume that some of the relaxation you're referring to is of the more…” He flicks his fingers. “Intimate kind?”
Something curious happens: Ratio stalls. He averts his gaze as his cheeks dust over with pink.
He recovers quickly, however, coughing into his palm and resuming right where he left off. “It would be inane to exclude the potential of intimacy.”
Aventurine is stressed. The knowledgeable Dr. Ratio offers an expert, thorough, only slightly self-indulgent solution.
