Summary
He had a way with everything he did, a way most people didn’t have, a specific type of gentleness that one would not normally expect from a child raised in the streets. Still, that aspect of Jason’s character seemed to stick with him, no matter how much roughness the world threw at him. And, in return, Joey couldn’t help but want to preserve it. He wanted to protect the boy from the evils of this world, shield him in a way no adult in his life seemed to have the decency to do.

Summary
Bruce didn't know exactly what urged him to go to that specific store that specific day. Maybe it was the fact that the night before was another one of *those* sleepless nights, where his dreams were plagued by memories of a boy who no longer was.
The soft breeze led him in front of a familiar wooden door filled with memories. He pushed it open and let himself get lost in them. In the corner, in the very back of the Christmas tree, he could see only a shadow of a little boy that once existed, shyly looking around overwhelmed.
Bruce forced himself out of those thoughts and instantly, the little boy's place was overtaken by a man, pushing around a stroller. It reminded him too much of the boy he had lost and, as much as he wanted to look away, he felt compelled to keep looking. -

They had a deal, Bruce and Dick. When Bruce became a little too violent and Dick a little too rash, they spent a night together, a night to let it all out. It had been going on for years now. Nothing too exclusive, at least in the beginning. Actually, come to think of it, it hadn’t started as anything more than the need to relax, to let go, to finally feel free.
