Summary
She almost has it. Just past Mari and then onto her feet and Coach will never be able to catch her.
Mari grabs Shauna’s injured wrist and twists. Pain explodes across Shauna’s arm and a yelp scrapes itself from her throat as she falls on top of Mari.
By the time the pain fades enough for Shauna to remember to move, there’s a noose around her neck, pulled taut. Mari lies underneath her with wide-eyes and shallow cuts sliced across her cheeks. Her clothes are caked with dirt and ragged and her hand rests overtop of the bone of Shauna’s wrist, like she’s preparing herself to twist again.
“Holy shit Shauna,” she says, out of breath, “What the fuck is wrong with you?”
The pit makes a bad day worse for Shauna. Or maybe that’s just Mari. (canon compliant up until the end of 3x2)

Summary
Lottie twists then, dark hair sliding over her shoulders and suddenly Shauna is sixteen again in the pressing heat of August, watching Lottie wade into the waters of Marlu Lake. She wore her hair up then and had smiled brighter than the sun bearing down on them as she’d called out for Shauna to join her.
“You said anything,” the Lottie of here and now says severely. Frail in a way that’s been beaten into all of their bones since the start of winter.
Shauna had. Shauna will. Shauna has to.
The Shauna of sixteen is long gone. As relevant to the here and now as her Brown acceptance letter, stashed away in some drawer back home.

Summary
Sarah’s first thought upon entering the room is only for the way Katherine’s loosened hair spreads across Sarah’s pillow in an array of red and auburn.
Her second thought is that Katherine is lying in Sarah’s bed.
She knew that was going to happen. She was the one who suggested it. It’s just that no amount of knowing and anticipating could’ve prepared her for the sight of Katherine wrapped in the same blanket that Sarah has been sleeping underneath for years. Nothing could have prepared her for Katherine, sick in her bed, eyes drooping with sleepiness.
When Katherine falls sick, Sarah takes it upon herself to look after her.

Summary
“You know, every New Year’s since I was a kid, I’d always make a big long list of all my resolutions for the next year,” Misty says soft as the snow gently falling outside, “but when I laid out the piece of paper this time I just…” she trails off, plastering a half-hearted smile to her face, “I couldn’t figure out what to put down,” she says finally, playing it off like a joke. It doesn’t land.
Nat’s throat tightens, blocking the air clawing its way up her throat. She gets it. She really really does.
Eighteen-year-old Nat had never expected to make it this far. Hell, the Nat from a few months ago had never thought she’d live to see the end of the year. She hadn’t wanted to live to see the end of the year. The future is muddled and blurry, with no clear picture of what to expect. She’d given up on New Year’s resolutions by the time she was twelve. There was no use in planning for the future when nothing ever went as expected for her.
And yet… Nat is forty-two. She’s alive and breathing. Maybe Lottie’s cult teachings rubbed off on her more than she thought they did. Maybe… maybe she can let herself hope.
New Year’s Eve 2021. Nat and Misty meet up to talk.

Summary
Finally, a small warble of a voice echoes through the room, “I don’t know what to draw.” he whispers mournfully, turning to look at Mike.
Mike frowns, “You don’t… what?”
Will glances wistfully down at the pencil, a standard steely grey, still floating aimlessly in the air, “Can’t think of anything.”
Mike’s shoulders rise up to his ears. This was supposed to be simple. Just get the ghost some coloured pencils and get him to stop terrorizing him and his sisters. How the hell does this keep getting more complicated?
He inhales deeply, letting the air fill his lungs, “Well, what did you like drawing before?” When you were alive, is what he thinks but doesn’t dare add.
In the Fall of 1987, the Wheelers move to a new town, but when things take a turn for the worse in their new house, it's up to Mike to make contact with the strange entity haunting them.

Summary
“Can we?” Nat asks, more of a hypothetical question than anything. The fight is slowly draining out of her. She’s tired. More tired than she’s ever been. She’s been running on fumes for the past year. It seems stupid that she only really starts to feel it when faced with the prospect of a good safe rest.
A good safe-ish rest with Misty Quigley.
Misty nods vigorously, “Of course! We can talk everything through tomorrow.” She sticks out a pinky finger toward Nat, “Pinky promise.”
Nat lets it hang in the space between them for a moment, eyeing it warily. How much weight does a pinky promise really hold?
But Misty’s staring at her earnestly, face flushed and smile steadily growing wider as she watches Nat watch her. Her blonde curls tumble over her shoulders and Nat is endeared. Fuck.
The night after being rescued, the surviving Yellowjackets stay overnight in a motel. Nat finds herself sharing a bed with Misty.

Summary
Mike smiles down at Will, eyes twinkling, “Figured you were ready to actually relax for the first time in three months.”
Will lets himself smile. He doesn’t know if he’s doing a good job at keeping the love off his face. He’s not sure he wants to.
Mike’s smile widens enough to cause the corner of his eyes to wrinkle. Will wonders if he’ll have smile lines when he’s older; if it’s overstepping to want to be the one that puts them there.
“Yeah,” Will says softly, not breaking eye contact.
Mike’s hand flattens on his back and Will’s stomach flips.
Mike holds Will’s gaze for another moment and then all at once he’s pushing Will forward, “Follow me,” he says, words racing out of his mouth.
With their band starting to really take off, the party has to deal with the consequences of having the spotlight shine on them. After starting a relationship with Mike, Will starts to wonder if the band is worth the toll it's taking on himself.

Summary
The boy regards Mike for a moment, trailing his eyes over his face with an intensity that warms his cheeks, “D’Artagnan will not harm you,” the boy says gravely.
Mike’s cheeks redden further, caught off guard, “What?”
The boy frowns glancing quickly at the shield before meeting Mike’s eyes once more, “The dragon. D’Artagnan will not harm you,” and then as if he had not just said the most insane thing he possibly could, “but I suggest you set up your camp in a safe location anyways. The woods can be dangerous at night.”
“ What? ”
Mike embarks on a quest to rescue his estranged childhood best friend from the claws of a vicious dragon only to be derailed by a strange protective shield and an even stranger magic user.

Summary
“God,” Mike starts breathlessly, “we kind of suck don’t we?”
Nancy snorts loudly, which almost sends Mike into hysterics again, “Oh definitely, but you know what?” Mike looks over to see Nancy smiling at him, something like… pride written on her face, “I have faith in us.”
Mike raises his eyebrows, “really?”
“Or faith in you at least,” Nancy mends with a roll of her eyes like she didn’t just tilt Mike’s perception of the world ever so slightly.
It's the end of the world and Mike and Nancy finally have a talk with each other
