He bites down on the urge to bear his neck and submit; wonders, briefly, what Gallatin’s name would sound like if the elf dragged it from his lips in this moment.

    “I’ve known you to march into battle with little more than a breastplate made of chicken bones and a stick for a sword.” His eyes slip closed; footsteps bring every rough-worn word closer. He can feel Gallatin’s gaze on his back, the heat and weight of it, and it takes every bit of control he has left to suppress a shiver.

    Because fuck, he feels those words, a caress that slithers under his skin and settles. It’s heady, being seen - headier than the wine still buzzing about his blood, coloring his thoughts a shade fuzzy and soft.
