Summary
Fidelity to a cause is easy as long as you believe most of what they're doing is right. Fidelity to yourself is a lot harder, because it's easy just to see your life as a series of failures rather than a series of successful recoveries from failures. Learning something from each of them.
Clint Barton has had very few precious things to feel that strongly about, but everyone has to grow sometimes. Like most of his life though, it's not exactly a straight line or an easy recovery.

Fidelity by amriel. Promotion to Level 7 is difficult, but Clint and Phil had spent a lot of time together and separating would be harder. A love story between international spies stretched out across continental distances and buried behind classified documents, told through calendar invites and 15 minute gaps between meetings. Phil/Clint, SHIELD AU, the characterisation is flawless. With the right person, fidelity is easy. Nick Fury would never allow those idiots to elope, not on his watch, they’ll get several wedding celebrations, spread out across months.

People say Clint Barton is the pickiest omega in SHIELD. Fortunately, Phil Coulson loves a challenge.

Love of a Particular Kind by Laura Kane (laurakane). Phil/Clint omegaverse AU but based on birds. Wooed by the world building and the smut, swooned like an Austen character over the courtship. The universe is fascinating, in a want-to-live-in-it way. The characterisation is good and this is ridiculously smutty and fluffy, there’s almost no angst. Feel good read.

"Loki thought he knew what Earth had to offer, thought he had a grip on the biggest threats. Even the trickster forgot the power of the shadows."

An alternate take on The Avengers if Clint, Natasha, Coulson, and assorted others were villains.

The Biggest, Baddest Kids In The Sandbox by WriteThroughTheNight. Phil Coulson and Nick Fury never got recruited into SHIELD, and instead established a criminal empire called The Agency, content with being highly competent and organised group of incredibly rich villains. Phil and Natasha have to temporarily play heroes however, when Loki invades Earth and mind-controls Clint Barton, who is Phil’s husband and has him hugely compromised, and that slight will never go unpunished, not by people as merciless as him. SHIELD is incredibly incompetent, the Avengers are a group of dysfunctional little boys, and if the Agency ever decides to go public with world domination they would lose miserably, likely for them, working in the shadows pays better, there’s no reason to change something that works. Phil/Clint evil(?) competent (cannon) SHIELD members. One of my favourite AU.

Who really takes that much notice of yet another man in a suit, anyway?

Caught In Death’s Shadow by coffeebuddha. Phil Coulson is the personification of death, and Nick Fury gets really stupid when he is desperate. Clint Barton is just a mortal man who got death attached to him. Clint/Phil, Pepper is a reaper, because terrifying competence translates to being death apparently.

“Good luck, Tony. Remember, you can do this. Even in the times when you feel like you can’t.” - Stephen Strange, as he changes Tony’s life and sends him all the way back to 2010. It’s gonna be a bumpy ride.

A Second Chance (To Get It Right) by DobbyRocksSocks. Tony Stark is yeeted back in time by Stephen Strange with nothing but memories and an instruction to save the world, he succeeds. Avengers acting as family, IronStrange and Clint/Phil. A feel good cracky oneshot.
