Summary
“It seems odd that the hag wouldn’t have realized that though,” Maxim continued thoughtfully. “If she meant to curse all of us, she should have known better than to choose something that wouldn’t affect me.”
“Maybe she just didn’t think you were enough of a threat to warrant cursing,” Flint said.
“Could there be any other component of the curse that wouldn’t apply to you?” Emeraude asked. “Something the hag wouldn’t have known?”
Maxim jolted suddenly beside him. “Names,” he whispered.
“What?” Hali said.
“Of course. When we first met the hag she was disguised. And we told her our names, your names. Naturally, a curse that targets each individual uniquely would require their true name as a component.”
Flint groaned. “So what you’re telling me is that your whole pseudonym true name thing actually came in handy for once?”
“It would seem so, yes.”

Summary
He could go now, he supposes. He has spent untold centuries despising this place, and he really only needed to stay to ensure there was a universe where it wouldn’t come to be. He played his part, set things in motion. Found the one thing that could save him from himself and sent him back to do just that. Now, he should be free. He should find another world to settle in, find peace, leave this desolate land to waste away as it deserves. There is nothing left for him here.
His gaze travels down to Jayce’s hollowed figure, hands still open from relinquishing his hammer, and any thought of leaving is banished from his mind forever.
***
Bad future timeline mage Viktor hangs out with the hollow arcane husk of Jayce. That's it. That's the fic.

Summary
Repairing relationships is hard. Repairing a relationship while both of you are recovering from trauma is even harder. Repairing that relationship while you're both literal worlds apart might as well be impossible.
So you really can't fault VR-LA and Maxim for being so bad at it.
