The television was on softer when he woke up. Peter was on the other end on the couch. He’d pulled Johnny’s feet into his lap and his thumb ran restless over the knob of Johnny’s ankle. He was still in his work clothes – his regular work clothes, not the primary colored spandex ones – and his jaw was dark with a five o’clock shadow.
“I hate that shirt,” Johnny said, stretching a little.

Summary
It happened, ironically, at a moment when Johnny was feeling good. Almost one month to the day, Johnny had found himself kissing Peter Parker at the very top of the Statue of Liberty. Their spot since they were sixteen, and Peter had finally kissed him at it, Johnny’s secret daydream since he’d been twenty-years-old and soaking wet, tied up in a water tower back-to-back with Spider-Man.
It had been perfect, and everything that came after it only seemed to get better.
Which was, of course, when a psychic vampire attacked Rockefeller Center, because that was what Johnny’s life was like.

“I think you’ll live,” Ben said, as gravely as he could, cutting Johnny off. Johnny flicked his gaze up at him, confused. Ben huffed. “You’re fine, you baby. C’mon now. We knew this would happen sooner or later.”
It had only been a matter of time. The last of Ben’s rocks had fallen off weeks before, and Johnny’s powers had started failing before his. Ben was surprised his immunity to heat had lasted as long it had.
