"It's okay, son." Dutch reassured him with a sympathetic smile on his face that Arthur had never seen before. "It's okay to cry."
In that moment it suddenly felt like Arthur had a brick on his chest. He stood up and turned his back to Dutch and put his hands over his face so he wouldn't see him cry. "I miss them so much." His voice broke midway through the sentence but he was beyond caring at this point. Everything hurt so much that he didn't even bother trying to hold back his tears.

In bouts of a delirious haze, Arthur lets slip the truth he never let himself say, and Dutch and Hosea realise that the little boy they raised all those years ago is still in there, buried under his facade of grit and strength.
