"It's okay," Dad tells him, over and over. It's one of his favourite things to say ever since Lo'ak was rescued (kidnapped)(ripped from Daddy’s hands), along with you're safe now. He says it every time he catches Lo'ak looking at the scabs on his cheeks, four long stripes where Lo'ak panicked and lashed out before he could realise what was happening (before he could remember that bad boys get punished). "It's okay, boy," repeated over and over until Lo'ak wanted to scream at him to shut up.
(It's okay, baby, I know it's hard, you cry all you need to, it's gonna hurt 'til you adjust, baby, it's okay.)
Sometimes (all the time), he wishes Dad wouldn't say that, wishes he'd yell, throw something, slap Lo'ak across the face like Sully used to. Wishes he wouldn't lie, it's okay, yeah fucking right, wishes he'd call Lo'ak a failure and a fuck-up and a traitor.
