The window was cracked and the night air spilt in, doing just enough to keep Mel’s eyes trained on Shauna. Watching small strands of hair fly in the breeze, appreciating the way Shauna looked in the small strips of light filtering in from the street lamps, and how she nodded her head along to whatever song was on, mouthing the words under her breath every couple of lines.
And Mel just sank further into her seat, turning to face Shauna without having to crook her head awkwardly. Fully appreciating her. Shauna turned to face her, a small smirk on her face as if she already knew the answer to the question she was going to ask, but needed to hear it anyway.
“Why are you staring at me?” Her cheeks were slightly pink, and Mel was glad that the buzz in the back of her head from the alcohol let her experience Shauna as much as she had.
She grinned back. “You’re nice to look at,” she answered simply.
