“I could’ve… I could’ve stopped her.” He mumbles, “I let it happen, again. That’s… that’s on me.” His sniffles sound sharp and tinny through her phone speaker, “I’m sorry I called. I didn’t mean to bother you.”
“It’s okay,” She says quickly, scared that he’s about to hang up, “It’s fine, Dick, I’m not doing anything important.” A million thoughts run through her head, all at once, and they all leave her feeling sick to her stomach.

She’d been a stupid teenager when the whole Mirage incident went down, and looking back on it she realizes how badly they all fucked up, dealing with that. Dick had been sexually assaulted- not even, he’d been raped and when his closest friends found out about it they’d… they’d laughed at him, they’d gotten angry at him. They told him it was his fault.

When his placating words do nothing to calm him, he instead attempts to reach out to him through the force, searching for a shred of consciousness in the shroud of fear and anguish that surrounds him.
What he finds instead confuses him further, as Anakin’s mind latches onto his own as soon as he reaches out, sucking him into what he can only assume is a memory.
