Seonghwa smirks to himself, having just decided on what will entertain him this afternoon. “Joongie, baby. C’mere.” Hongjoong looks up from his phone with an adorable look of confusion and shuts it off. “Hmm?”
Seonghwa pats his lap and beckons with a finger for Hongjoong to come join him. “Just come sit with me for a minute, yeah?” Hongjoong can tell by the look on Seonghwa’s face that his intentions are anything but pure.
“Baby… I’m so bored.” Seonghwa sighs against Hongjoong's neck. “Can I play with you?”

Then he just rests his forehead against Seonghwa’s and for a moment neither of them moves. The bathwater has gone still around them, the steam curling lazily in the quiet. Seonghwa can feel Hongjoong’s heartbeat through the space between them. “You matter to me more than anything,” Hongjoong says after a while. “You’re the person I look for first in every room,” he continues. “And the person I want next to me when things fall apart.” His thumb traces along Seonghwa’s cheek again. “You’re home, Hwa.”
—no matter how tall Seonghwa grows, there are moments when he feels like a small child again, lost in a world that’s too big for his emotions, needing reassurance from the people he loves most.

Summary

But the more Seonghwa looks, the more he realises the house isn’t the problem—Hongjoong is safe, kind, and trying. After countless sleepovers, Seonghwa finally loosens his grip on the rules, all while noticing something: the rules they set keep changing, especially the ones about each other.
