Summary

Summary
Baelor would pull back. Baelor would know that Valarr is in some ways still a child and needs to be comforted as a child would. To be held, but not like this, held as a father holds his child, not a lover’s embrace. Baelor would remind him that Maekar must act the father to Valarr, who is fatherless, and not grow dizzy with the desire to part his nephew’s young lips with his tongue. Baelor would be better. Always better. Better than his sons, better than his brothers.
But he is gone, and his lessers remain.
The selfishness is still here within him. It has been a long time since Dyanna. A long time since he has touched, been touched in return. And if the kisses taste of salt and the slight tinge of wine, what of it? Was it ever going to taste any different?
baelor's brother and baelor's son mark the anniversary of his passing - and excise some emotions in the process.

He imagined they would think of him differently if they knew Crozier had once had him flogged. Perhaps they would respect him more. Then again, perhaps they would assume he was only obedient because he was afraid. It was unlikely, Jopson expected, that anyone would see it the way he had chosen to – as something like a baptism.
In which Jopson gets flogged, Crozier remembers, and both of them are Extremely Normal about this. Rated Mature for violence; this isn't strictly slash, in that nobody in this story is fully admitting their feelings even to themselves, but it isn't strictly gen either.
