Summary
Sonic's eyes open, and he blinks away the sleep trying to hold them shut to turn over and try to get a good look at Knuckle's face.
Thankfully, his eyes adjust to the dark pretty quickly.
Less thankfully, he looks distressed. The seed of worry buds, poking at Sonic's heart uncomfortably.
Led more by instinct than anything, concern for his own bodily health overwritten by concern for Knuckles, he reaches out, but as his eyes stop zeroing in on his friends face as much, he notices something else is amiss, and cuts himself short– His glove awkwardly hovers next to the echidna’s shoulder, while his brain reorients itself to what's actually happening.

"Listen here you fool." He’d had enough of the blabber and once the barista leaned over to hand him this Sunday coupon thing, Shadow didn't bother, instead, his hand grabbed for the collar of the other guy's garish fuchsia apron, pulling and lifting him over the cold flat surface.
"I don't care about these… ‘brews’ you've got here. I just want my cup of beans for a reasonable price. If you can't make it happen, I won't waste my time here."
Now that their noses were only a few inches apart, thanks to Shadow's manhandling, he noticed the bright green shine in other's widened eyes. Something about it felt odd, as if he got shot by a tranquilizer gun and left on a patch of freshly cut grass.
He had to fight himself from losing his composure, seemingly unfazed, his frown only deepening.Was he just that tired?
Nicky trembles, magic firing off wildly against his will a bit– He only hopes the guy doesn't notice the enchantment he just scared out of him settling over his mind.
Suddenly, his eyes start to flutter, the only warning before he slumps in the other hedgehog's shock-slack hold entirely, completely unconscious.Series

Ever since he'd left the city about a half a year back, he's not really let himself dwell on his need for… companionship in that way very much, since he knows very well that he won't find it out here, surrounded by acres of nothing but wildlife, grass and crops. Not even Shadow should be able to find him out here, with no inkling of why he'd be out in the middle of nowhere for this long, and the fact that he's seen neither hair nor hide of his aloof boyfriend only solidified that belief.
