Not enough in the playoffs to score, not enough for a series win, not enough to keep Auston in Toronto, not enough to stop the fucking Habs from going to the finals (regardless of how much he tried to bad juju them the fuck out of it, and seriously? Fuck the Habs). Apparently not good enough to keep his… whatever Auston had been to him, from moving on to the next warm, red-headed (and was Freddie’s hair even naturally that colour? And fuck him for being able to grow a beard. Mitch could totally do that if he tried.) hole he liked. Just because Mitch was… needy. Mouthy. Embarrassingly clingy? Didn’t mean that he wasn’t good enough.
And seriously? Just. Fuck Auston Matthews for thinking he was too good for Mitch Marner. He totally was not. It wasn’t like he was bathing in the tears of Carey Price, himself. He’d scored one goal.
