He'll face many hardships, but there's always light at the end of the tunnel, isn't there? That might be more literal than not.

"Easy," a low voice says above him, tone calmer and gentler than any of his other captors so far. He feels light fingers graze against the injury on his neck, and fear flashes through his unfocused mind. He trashes and bares his teeth in a growl, the iron taste in his mouth clogging his senses as his injuries throb at the sudden movement.
The person retracts their hand for a second, before settling it against his bruised hand, "It's okay," his voice sounds strange, choked almost, "it's… it's alright. I'm here now."

He sat in the far corner of the Angel’s share, trying his hardest to focus on the paper in front of him as he marked off different things. It was something that Jean gave him to look over for her, she valued his opinion on this and… He was certainly honored she did. But he came to this corner because it was secluded, and he expected for no one to bother him.
But a man sat across from him purposely. There were free seats elsewhere, and he had been trying to get Aether’s attention- and at first he was attempting to flirt. But then the flirting turned to insults as Aether continued to ignore him, just hoping he’d go away.
