Summary
The LAFD mandates that all new hires complete their heat or rut leave prior to their probationary year as vacation accruals take time. Newly divorced, Eddie turns up at the Center to undergo his rut in privacy before starting at the 118. There, he meets an atypical omega whose heat partner forgot about him and whose only criteria is that his alpha be kind.

Bookmarker's Notes
I loved this 6 (ETA 14) years ago and I love it now. It's still a favorite SGA. Badass Colonel is badass. As usual, Astolat and Speranza have a fine hand for the humor as well as scripting a well-written thriller and love story.

Bookmarker's Notes
One of my favorite series. The depth of interpersonal relationships is satisfying, esp. if you're not into slash or romance. Even if you are into those, it's still good. The world building that adds to Lackey's Valdemar series is nicely imagined and beautifully executed.

Because the meaning of life is "do the next thing", and we all carry the seeds of the past into our future. Futurefic, Rodney-centric.

I have a crush on synecdochic's brain and most of her writing and this is a stunning example of why. This story has always resonated with me even before I had the unfortunate life experiences to empathize with the largely unspoken loss writ here. So many readers' tears. So strong a story, so beautiful and touching and just so much. Rodney's life as a love letter to his dead. It's just wrenching every time I've read it in the last decade (it's an autoread when I come across it).

Summary
While Jane and Thor search the universe in order to find Darcy after a lab accident, Darcy wakes up still on Earth, just decades in the past. Darcy continues to travel through time, skipping ahead years at a time, and staying for as little as a few months or for as long as a year. She has a rock-solid friendship with Rebecca Barnes, and Howard Stark on Fridays at six to see her through.

I think epic sums this up. Just epic, in scope, in breadth, in character development, in story line, in emotion, in research. Just epic. Not sure why this *only* has 300-odd bookmarks.
