Dustin lingers on Steve’s doorstep for a good ten minutes before he knocks. He knows Steve’s parents are gone—locked out by the quarantine—but he’s worried somehow anyway. Or maybe he doesn’t want to ruin Steve’s night. He might’ve cared about that, in the beginning.
When he does knock, and Steve does open the door, Dustin has this whole plan of what to say. Everyone’s fine, he’ll say, because Steve will think the monsters are back. I’m fine, he’ll say next, because Steve will think he’s dying. Sorry about your doormat, he’ll joke, because there’s blood in the center of the O in WELCOME.
Instead, he bursts into tears.

Summary
After the horrific events in November, all Eliza wants to do is move on with her life but nothing seems to go her way. Nancy is avoiding her and instead spends all her time with Steve Harrington and Eliza feels like she and Jonathan can't be friends anymore. For the most part, Eliza just wishes Barb was still alive because she definitely needs her best friend - especially since someone makes her question everything she ever believed about herself.
An interlude between season 1 and 2 in which Eliza not only tries to deal with the aftermath of Barb's death but also struggles with her newly discovered feelings for a certain girl.
