Summary
"Jamie’s fairly certain at this point that it is the natural order of things: you have to go out and drag joy home by the ear if you want any. So, he’s got no problem with that, he never did really. It’s just, well, it’s been increasingly difficult to do that. Or to feel anything other than… He’s not entirely sure what to call the weight pressing down on his chest when he sits in the locker room before training, but it’s that. All the time. And it is fucking Zava’s fault."
...
The evening before Richmond's last training for the Boxing Day fixture, Jamie feels so alone that he decides to go and buy a Christmas tree for the first time in his life. He gets in a car accident on his way there.
He's not sure how he could have alerted anyone of that fact with his phone gone and probably broken to pieces, but people seem weirdly mad about it. Jamie's convinced that's also Zava's fault.

Summary
Roy makes it all the way to the treatment room, hand on the doorknob about to open it when he stops short.
Because fucking Jamie Tartt is sitting in their treatment room.
Roy has every intention of just turning around and walking away, Until he sees a boot flying across the room, nearly clocking Jamie in the face. Until he sees someone cuffing Jamie upside the head, screaming at him with disappointment and anger.

Summary
The energy of the room shifts suddenly as Jamie’s eyes widen. It’s as though he’s just waking up, looking around quickly to get his bearings straight- as if he doesn’t remember coming to Roy’s house at all. Maybe he doesn’t. When his startled expression finally lands on Roy just off to the side, Jamie’s eyebrows raise even though his shoulders relax. He looks down at the bath again.
“What’s this?” Jamie asks as he combs a hand through the beer head of bubbles on top of the water.
“A bubble bath,” Roy says gruffly. He stares straight forward at the open-faced cabinet in front of him that has piles of fresh black towels on each shelf.
A pause. “You put me in a bubble bath?”

Summary
"If it's about Keeley, just save it, mate," he says, his mouth full of food. "Let's never bring this shit up again."
"No," Roy huffs. He's not touched his own food yet. "It's— it's not about her at all. It's about me, and I don't know why I'm telling you this, especially now, but you have to promise you won't take the fucking piss, because I really just need to fucking say this, okay?"
Jamie swallows his bite, and sets down the half-finished kebab. He straightens up a bit.
"Yeah, okay. Go on."
Roy takes a breath.
"Right. Fuck. Fine." He clenches one fist in his lap, trying to ground himself with the sensation of his nails digging into his palm, but they're too short to really do much. He's bitten them into stubs this week. "I'm losing my vision. Like, badly. I'm going fucking blind."
