    Summary

When Damian was no taller than knee-height and still clung to his mother's legs, she rested her hand on the back of his neck and offered a sweet. In her warm, tough hands was a little bready dessert, dusted with powdered sugar. It was filled with a pleasant mixture of dates and walnuts.

Ma’amoul, he’d later find out. It must’ve been the most delicious thing Damian had ever eaten. It was addicting. It stuck to his teeth and coated his hands in sugary powder—foreign to anything else he’d experienced.

The day after, Damian was beaten to death for the first time.

Or, Damian shares his mother's eyes. This causes more problems than he’s expecting when arriving in Wayne Manor.

    Summary

Damian Al-Ghul does not get sick.

He is the son of the Batman.
    Heir to the Demon’s Head.
The future of the Bat mantle, the pride of his parents, the successor his brothers watch with wary admiration.

    He does not get sick.

Not when he goes under in the Gotham harbor.
Not when filthy water fills his lungs and drags him down.
Not when he drags himself home, bruised and shaking.
Not when the fever blooms behind his eyes the next morning.

    No.
Because Damian Al-Ghul does not get sick.
Sickness is weakness, and Damian Al-Ghul is never weak.

    …right?

He's not sick. Not when the fever climbs, when breathing becomes a battle he can’t win alone, when the river’s infection sinks its teeth into his lungs and blood- No. He's fine.

Damian Al-Ghul does not get sick. That would imply weakness. And he is an unstoppable, invincible, ten-year-old war assassin- …who maybe, possibly, hypothetically should not be coughing like that. Or swaying like that. Or unable to get up anymore. No.

Because Damian Al-Ghul doesn’t get sick.

(Except, apparently… Damian Wayne does. He absolutely does.)

    Summary

"No!" He shouted, voice sharp and vengeful. Damian twisted under Grayson's grip. Grayson held him down firmer. Preventing Damian from moving and further hurting himself.

"Make this easier on yourself, Damian. You don't have to keep fighting."

The scent was getting stronger, fighting his conscious effort to push Grayson away. To just accept the alpha's help and to not worry anymore.

"N-not happening." Damian replied through gritted teeth.

"Hard way, it is then." Grayson bared his fangs at him, "Can't say I didn't warn you, though."

Damian's eyes shot open in shock. Fangs coming into contact with the side of his neck, piercing the skin. He let out a pained gasp as the venom began to flood his system.

    OR

Damian runs away and Dick finds him, eager to bring him back home. However, Damian isn't on board with this idea and will fight tooth and nail not to go back.

    Summary

It's Damian's birthday, as he reads. August 9th.

He'd forgotten about it himself, but he can't help but dread what is to come from his siblings.

(He won't acknowledge the glimmer of warmth, the part of him that he does not let usually speak, feel fond or even anticipation of what they might do for him.)

or: Damian's birthday arrives, and he worries (or... at least, pretends to) about what his family will pull. But what if he didn't have anything to worry about, because nobody remembered?
