    Summary

"Do stop staring at me," Bertie mumbles, “it’s bound to put a fellow off.” An outrageous lie. As if he could be put off right now. He attempts to hide his unmanly shyness with a rakish grin, but the grin comes out all wavery, and his voice does too.

"I am not certain that I can, sir,” says Jeeves.

    Summary

I knew arguing was futile; Jeeves always has some sneaky means of besting me without words. Bicycles, dropped vases – something along those lines. I’ve never had much in stock of grey cells, so I swallowed all my defiant remarks about feudality and young masters and resolute blighters, and tried to hide from the inevitable.
“I’m sorry, old thing. I want to keep it.”

Jeeves returned my smile with his own twitch of the lips, and wiped a speck of dust from one of the birds. “Your aunt has been imbued with the festive spirit, sir, despite the delay.”
How right he was, I thought.
“She would never let me down.” I felt foolish for my behaviour, like a petulant child who hadn’t learned the virtues of gratitude. “She’s family, you know. We share the same blood in our veins. Of course she wouldn’t let me down.”

Bertie's Christmas cheer is restored by a gift from his - usually not-so-deserving - aunt. It's thoughtful, it's generous, and it's from Agatha. Definitely, absolutely, from Agatha.
