For the past six months, it's been good. It's been great. It's been fucking amazing, actually, even with dealing with the press, even with hiding his night job, because he'd trade close to anything for the date nights at fancy restaurants and the cuddling (cuddling! actually cuddling!) during movie nights and sometimes, when it's early, just before Bruce leaves, and they're curled together in the darkness, and Bruce just talks, Clark just listens, and it feels like maybe the jagged piece of cracked stone in his chest that Bruce calls a heart might actually be worth something, for once. And oh yeah, the sex is incredible, but watching Clark interact with his kids, even with how infrequently it happens by necessity? That's better than anything that could happen in bed.
And now— But now— There's Clark. Gorgeous, intelligent, caring, loving and lovely Clark Kent standing in the center of the room, face hopeful, glasses held in his hands as he shares his biggest secret with Bruce.
Bruce freezes.

Or Xie Lian can't bare the sight of Hua Cheng left looking so sad as he stands in his burning manor so, instead of returning to heaven with the others, he jumps back down to try to make things right. Only when he gets there he finds Hua Cheng deep in his own self loathing for having hurt Xie Lian.

Summary
Days pass as Hua Cheng combs the kingdom night and day and all the while he hears his highness’s voice in his ears, so much more frequent now than it's ever been before, but that's not what worries Hua Cheng the most, no that honor goes to the new change in it. Before, even if he did not like to hear it, he at least recognized the bidder self mocking note in Xie Lian’s voice. Now though… Now his god's words have taken on a dreamy muzzy quality Hua Cheng has never heard from him before, as though Xie Lian’s mind is slipping a little with pain or fever or some other ailment, as though he believes that Wu Ming is really there.
“Wu Ming… Where are you? I can't see you…”
“Wu Ming, what do you think of all this? Of me?”
“You regret choosing to worship me now, don’t you, Wu Ming?”
“Wu Ming… Wu Ming I'm sorry. I know it's been so long. There's so much I haven't told you. Five whole years… I don't think I told you anything about Qianqiu. He's got a good heart, you know. I've always been proud of him. I hope I didn't break him like I do everyone else. … Like I broke you.”
OR From inside the coffin Xie Lian talks to Wu Ming and his words become prayers which Hua Cheng can hear.

“By allowing Lord Chengzhu to break my cultivation vows.”
“How would I do that?”
Xie Lian takes a breath, the heat growing in his face, up to his ears and down his neck, but somehow he manages to get the words out.
“By breaking my vow of abstinence.”
OR Xie Lian has searched for centuries for Wuming's ashes in order to give him a proper burial and eventually ends up in Ghost City where he offers himself to the Lord of the Gambler's Den in return for the information
