Summary
“Jack,” he’s gray now. He wasn’t gray when they met but now his auburn brown hair has faded to almost entirely silver. She imagines it would suit him if there wasn’t so much blood in it. “to what do I owe the displeasure?”
Maybe it’s a mean thing to say when he’s actively being loaded out of an ambulance, but Samira really cannot bring herself to care. He’s upright and breathing, so in the grand scheme of things, the situation can’t be that bad. And you’re allowed to be rude to your ex-husband—it’s one of the big perks of getting divorced before you graduate med school. It’s the participation prize of a failed marriage.
“Hey there, gorgeous.”

Summary
The clock in the middle of the screen reads 4:17 a.m., so he’s been deeply asleep for a good three and a half hours, which was creeping toward the max he gets at once with his intermittent insomnia. Behind it is Robby’s contact card with the slider at the bottom of the screen welcoming him to accept the call he’s been waiting on for a good two months.
Jack drags his thumb from left to right, picking up the call, “You good, brother?” He rasps quietly, his voice thick with sleep.
There’s a pause, and then a wet gasp echoes over the line, “Fuck, sorry, did I wake you?”
—
Because I saw a screen-grab of Abbot from the Season 2 trailer with the caption: “face of a man who knows he’s gonna get called at 2am cause Robby can’t handle that much time to self-reflect” and couldn't help but run with itBookmarked by leonine

Summary
“Oh, come on,” there’s that whine again. “I’m not like one of those creeps who won’t take no for an answer."
Well clearly, he missed a few branches on the way down from the top of the self-awareness tree.
“I just want a little honesty. I can take it, Doc, promise.”
“Oh no Mr. Edgerton,” Whitaker finally manages to say. “Dr. Mohan really does have a boyfriend.”
Huh.
Jack didn’t know Whitaker had it in him.

“Samira,” Trinity steps forward, leans over Samira’s computer monitor. “You eloped with Doctor Abbot and no one knew you knew you had feelings for him-”
“Why do people keep saying that?”

Or: Samira had a plan to reveal to the ED that she and Jack eloped this week, but Brian Donnelley from HR had to go and screw it all up.Bookmarked by leonine

Summary
A slow grin spreads across Jack’s face. “You think I’m handsome?”
Her cheeks flush, spine straightening. “I also said ridiculous,” she tries to deflect, reaching for her beer.
“Ridiculously,” he corrects, eyebrows rising, grin deepening his dimple, “followed by handsome.”
//
or, Samira and Jack run into each other at an airport in another city, and a five hour layover changes everything.
