Everyone knows the kingdom has a dragon. Legend says the dragon has been the protector of the realm since before the kingdom was born. Many people say the dragon saved their lives. Rumor says the royals never really liked the dragon.
The decree, however, says that the dragon has betrayed the kingdom and fled the country with an important artifact stolen from the treasury. Anyone who has the whereabouts of the dragon will be awarded with gold and whoever kills the dragon and brings back the artifact shall be knighted with the highest honor.

There are certain things field training never prepares you for–or they try to, but it doesn't really seem to measure up to the experience of actually encountering it, in the field.
Case in point, dealing with a rescue mission where the said rescuee has decided he wants to non-verbally argue with you over the CCTV instead of going to the extraction point.
Or Benji's a capable field agent but training doesn't really prepare you for the random bullshit the universe throws at you when you involve one Ethan Hunt.

Benji can’t help the frustrated noise that escapes his lips. He’s very aware of how inhuman it sounds, a borderline growl. “I- my.. Wolf.” he says, “It.. we, I guess technically speaking, scent those we care about… pack members. And we.. I don’t like it when someone interferes with that. Pack members, that is. Other wolves, they should know better. They should know that’s what’s mine is not theirs and they should back the fuck off but..” he trails off, rubbing at his face, trying to calm himself. “Between losing a member of my pack tonight and this other mystery werewolf leaving their scent on you…”
“Okay,” Luther says, placatingly, “You need to pull it together, Cujo.”
Or, Benji is a werewolf. Ilsa is dead. And Ethan came back to the safe house smelling like another unknown wolf. Put plainly, Benji is barely holding it together (that is to say, he's not).
