He could never think of a situation where “fancy” and “titles” could ever be applied to him (although he supposes that he has a title now that he is with the Inquisition, and he supposes that “Knight-Commander” and “Knight-Captain” and even “Ser” count as titles, but he’s never really thought of them as fancy).

They had all been tired, but Maribel was exhausted by the time they’d fallen into bed last night. They’d had a difficult day in the Hossberg Wetlands, and somehow Maribel had managed to get the worst of it, despite Beryl and Emmrich’s caution; Maribel is insistent that it’s her job to protect necromancers, and it is, but that doesn’t mean the necromancers in question relish watching her take blows intended for them. They’d patched her up with healing magic easily enough, but she’d been asleep almost as soon as her head hit the pillow.
Maribel Ingellvar does so much for her partners, and rarely asks for (or allows) anything in return. Beryl Ingellvar and Emmrich Volkarin decide to tangibly demonstrate their appreciation.

He'd offered no explanations, only kissed her brow, written out Martin's name, and told her he would be leaving at dawn - and to not try to follow him. Two hours after he'd gone, the loudspeakers began blaring with news of Campbell's death.
