Summary
“Y’know how it is,” he jerks his head to the side, and Oscar realises that he hasn’t looked him in the eyes once during this entire conversation. Avoiding. “Doesn’t exactly look good for me.”
“What doesn’t?” Oscar’s brows pull together, the back of his neck heating up. Swallowing, he goes to take a small step forward, to bridge the miles of distance between them, but he stops himself at the last second. Instead, runs his thumb nail over the pad of his pointer finger. Lets it carve into the pink skin.
Raising his hand, Lando flings it to the side, as if swatting away a particularly insistent fly.
“That you’re so, like. Beta.”

Summary
The worst part about it all is this: Max had been rebuilding his friendship with Lando over the course of the last two seasons. They’d been better, had gotten closer, again – had maybe moved on from what they once were. Lando had told him how he felt about Oscar, for fuck’s sake.
And then – and then Miami. The club. Lando’s stupidity. Max’s wanting. Charles’ carelessness.
Oscar.
Always, it seemed; always, it came back to Oscar.

Summary
Charles thinks of most relationships in his life as a part of his own makeshift universe. Himself as Mercury – warm and alight and a direct embodiment of the character of the Sun, of Ferrari, of his legacy. He has so much to prove. So much to do. Too small a mind, a body, a soul, to be able to truly exude the mass of such a team and future and past.
He wonders, sometimes, about how the first planet to be decimated, go entirely frozen, should the Sun die, is Mercury.
He knows his hands are cold.
He wonders if he’s already half-way there.

Summary
Noah is blond. Shaggy and shorn too close to the scalp – nothing like Oscar’s soft, gentle brunette waves.
But he has a few moles that decorate his face, and deep brown eyes. Not really like Oscar’s (he doesn’t have the doe eyes that make Oscar’s so breath-taking, and the placement of his moles aren’t quite right), but just enough.
Just the right amount of Oscarisms for Lando to close his eyes, and imagine.

Summary
"Max’s nose scrunches a little between his eyes, his guffaw squeaky and high yet gravelly all at the same time, like a weird sort of paradox. Charles is, as always, elegant about it: his eyes meet Oscar’s gaze, warm with the way the apples of his cheeks push against the corners.
They’re so utterly beautiful.
They’re so utterly out of reach.
And, Oscar realises with a start, maybe that’s just it."

Summary
“Cut it out, Lando,” Oscar hisses quietly, eyes hard as he shakes Lando’s hand off of him.
It’s a completely understandable reaction from him. If Lando was being used as a human fidget toy without his consent, he would feel the exact same way.
What isn’t understandable, however, is Lando’s own reaction over being scolded by Oscar. He can feel the embarrassed blush spreading on his skin from head to toe. There’s this weird tingling sensation that blooms from the back of his neck, coursing through his veins.
He doesn’t need a mirror to know what he must look like staring back at Oscar’s stern expression.
OR
Lando discovers he has a propensity for slipping into subspace when Oscar yells at him.

Summary
“Are you sniffing my clothes, mate?” Lando’s voice violently rips Oscar back to reality.
Oscar drops the hoodie like it’s turned into a venomous snake, recoiling in shock. Lando’s standing in the doorway, motionless, one hand still on the doorknob. Oscar can’t quite read the expression on his face, but he doesn’t need to in order to hear the incredulity ringing out in Lando’s voice.
“Um,” Oscar stammers, panic setting in. This looks so bad.
Alternatively:
Oscar's been obsessed with Lando since he was 14. Now they’re teammates at McLaren, and he's struggling to keep it together. Lando's not a better man.

Summary
Maybe Lando does think about Oscar’s long nails, quite a lot.
“How do you finger yourself with nails this long?” Charles asks, giggling as Oscar’s eyes widen, her cheeks turning red immediately. “Doesn’t it hurt?”
Oh. He’s never thought about them in that way, though.
Or, Lando overhears Oscar telling Charles that masturbating with long nails can be painful, and he offers to help.

“We gave them one hell of a show, pup, that’s for sure,” Lewis hums, one of his hands wrapping around Charles’ upper arm to squeeze. Another little touch.
