Summary
When the last sock is tossed in the hamper, Atsushi turns—and almost collides with Dazai.
He’s standing right there. So close. His dark brown eyes shine with glee, whilst his grin turns sharp. Atsushi stumbles back a half step, heart hammering loud in his chest, threatening to break past the layer of bones and muscle and skin.
“What are you—”
Dazai cuts him off, lifting a finger like a professor about to announce a groundbreaking theory. “Secret lessons!”
Atsushi blinks. “What?”
“Secret lessons,” Dazai repeats, stepping closer until Atsushi’s back nearly brushes the desk. “If you’re that inexperienced, then I’ll teach you. Long story short, you’ll practice kissing me as if I'm one of your many, many admirers~”
The words sink in, and Atsushi’s face erupts in heat. “Y-you—WHAT?!”
(Or: Atsushi gets wrapped up in the suggestion of having secret lessons on kissing from his own senpai. Surely there'll be no consequences to kissing his eccentric, over the top senior, right?)

Summary
The weight of the mission settles on Atsushi’s shoulders, but he doesn’t hesitate. He nods, already determined to see it through.
But then, something occurs to him—something important.
Furrowing his brows, he asks the inevitable question.
“Who will I be undercover as?”
Silence lingers for just a second too long before Ranpo smirks around his lollipop.
Sliding it out of his mouth with a mischievous glint in his eyes, he answers smoothly:
“A burlesque dancer.”
Atsushi chokes.
(Or: to help keep his mind off his ex-lover, Atsushi finds himself scheduled for an undercover mission at a burlesque styled bar.)

Summary
“Well, you see, alliances are built on trust and understanding. While i do understand your reasoning for wanting us to work together, i–as well as my subordinates–have no trust in your actions. What I'm asking for is proof of that trust and understanding. Once I get that, then I will concede and agree to the truce,” Dazai explains, his gaze much more serious than it was mere moments ago, sending a chill of unease down Atsushi’s spine.
“And what would prove to you that we are to be trusted?”
The smile on Dazai’s face stretches obscenely.
“A kiss.”
Huh?
“From the pretty weretiger.”
again…HUH?!
(Or: 5 times Dazai tricks Atsushi into a kiss and 1 time tricks aren’t needed.)

By this point in the semester, no one gives him weird looks anymore. A few students passing by nod at him in sympathy. One even offers him a protein bar once, like he’s a soldier returning from war. Everyone knows who he is now. Or, more accurately, who he belongs to.
Atsushi Nakajima: college sophomore, forensic psych major, teacher’s assistant, and part-time servant to the one and only Professor Edogawa Ranpo.
(Or: being Professor Edogawa’s TA is something akin to torture, but hey–the pay is generous and the praise is addicting, don’t judge Atsushi!)

“Does professor Dazai ever respond to your emails?” Atsushi asks, half hoping Lucy won’t hear him so he doesn’t have to deal with whatever answer she gives.
“Yeah.” She doesn’t even pause. “Got a reply like an hour after I sent it.”
Atsushi freezes. “…Are you serious?”
“Mmhm.”
His eye twitches. He grips the edge of the table to keep himself from slamming his forehead into it.
“So just me, then?” he mutters. “Just me that he’s ignoring.”
Lucy finally glances up, unimpressed. “Probably.”
(or: With Atsushi’s professor refusing to answer any of his emails, the university student has no choice but to talk to the man after classes.)
