A lie orchestrated by illusions that will only spare him to a bitter end. After all, the truth would always shine no matter what, leaving him alone with his icy tears.And the most painful part was that even when she was gone, he still coveted a mother's touch.

There are no numbers above the murderer’s head, no name. Mona, for the first time in her life, doesn't know when someone is going to die.
Mona can see when people are fated to die, but tries to ignore it as much as she can. Scaramouche, with the same ability, does the opposite and has taken it upon himself to make sure everyone dies when they're supposed to. Mona falls in with him anyways.

He blinked. His grades have dipped slightly, sure, but he was still maintaining straight A’s and was one of the best students in his class, right? (Was he?)
“You’re lucky you still live in this house, and that you still have some of the privileges I’ve let you have,” Ei snarled. “But perhaps I’ve let you have too much freedom.”

(I read a fic on this site and was inspired to make a fanmade prequel for that fic. It’s a form of fanfiction inception, if you will.)

We always knew what the King was thinking.
From the first moment our terracotta skin was imbued with the magic of Mezalea, we felt our ruler's presence without stop. Though the kings and queens that ruled would pass, their legacy survived in us, the last tenant of their touch. Their presence was featherlight on us yet bore down without pause. It was soft and kind, a guiding voice that told us what to do.
Whatever instruction we were given, we performed without hesitance or complaint. We didn’t have a will of our own, so completing tasks was our primary function. In that cess of our minds, the King's voice would rumble through us, giving us instruction. Whatever he said we would do, for his will was the most important thing in the world to us.
Serving our King was our sole purpose, and we would never stray from that path.
Godhood is not granted without sacrifice. The clones care as best they can.
