Summary
Susie thinks she's starting to get it, but when she sees Kris, she really gets it. They don’t even open their eyes when they walk in; not until Noelle greets them. They look like death.
“The hell is wrong with you?” Susie blurts before she can stop herself.
“Sick,” Kris rasps.
Kris falls very ill. Others are forced to face the reality of human fragility.

Summary
“It wasn’t a big deal or anything, if you’re worried about that. We were just kind of friend-kissing.”
“Susie, I don’t know what friend-kissing is supposed to be,” Noelle said.
“It’s like. You know,” Susie stumbled, “like if you need to figure out how to kiss or whatever and you got somebody to help you out—and that guy helps you get better at it, it’s like—you know!”
“I-I do?”
“Yeah,” she stressed, “you and Kris used to do it all the time!”
Or, Kris decides flirting lessons aren’t all that bad of an idea. Consequences? What consequences?

Summary
The door to Ralsei’s room pushed open, Kris and Susie immediately met with the sight of a soft, translucent material draped over the mirror, covering nearly its entire length.
"I didn't want it to get dusty," Ralsei rushed to explain.
“Seriously, do you not like it or something?”
Kris glared at him, red flames dancing up and down as they regarded Ralsei’s distressed stance, though their face remained carefully dulled. A pang of guilt quivered his insides anyway.
“No! No, not at all! I appreciate it, truly,” He bit his lower lip, rocking back and forth on the soles of his feet. “It's simply… tough… for me to bear the reflection.”
Kris and Susie bring a mirror to decorate Ralsei's room.

Summary
Some say that eyes are like a window to the soul. It hadn’t ever been something that Susie had been certain of, seeing as her own were a far stretch brighter and more joyous than she herself could ever be.
But she thinks that saying may hold true for Kris.
Theirs are red. A bright, furious shade – like a lit, determined flame that’s unable to be extinguished. There’s a streak of danger within them, aside a small, devious glint – there’s layers upon layers of lived experience and endured traumas in there. Susie’s surprised she doesn’t get lost.
Susie sees Kris' eyes for the first time after months of anticipation.

Summary
"'Kris was here' is written in wobbly letters. The words bleed, already dripping into obscurity as the fog clears. Susie snorts. “Isn’t it kinda stupid to mark your territory where it’ll fade away in a few minutes?”
Kris shrugs. “It’s fine, as long as someone saw it.”"
