I said yes and we high-fived and then he never spoke to me again. Now, when creepy guys try to hit on me, I say oh no, so sorry, I’m actually dating a musician named Eddie. It’s technically true.

A sudden slap against the storm door made Chrissy flinch, eyes widening as she took an unconscious step back. Eddie leaned toward her, every inch of him going from relaxed to menacing in an instant. As though she’d said something unforgivably rude.
“She ain’t here,” Eddie repeated, his voice harder. Angry, she realized. Angry with her. What had she done? Why was he so mad at her? “So why don’t you scurry on back to your cushy little life, princess?”
