There! Right there, a tall figure, the only one that’s standing still in this jumping, swaying crowd, the only one who doesn’t get jostled or bumped. Dark clothes, dark hair, those beady orange eyes.
Everything inside Daniel sings in recognition, and he starts forward, which is when Armand turns away, slipping in the direction of the exit, and fuck that!
Daniel lunges between the crush of bodies, reaches out, hooks his fingers in the back of Armand’s belt. Armand turns around, hair flying, wide-eyed, startled; Daniel isn’t buying any of it for a second.
“You said you did want me,” Daniel says over the roar and pulse of the stage; his fingers are still anchored behind that belt, but slipping, as Armand turns towards him.
“Yes. Very much.”
He says it so sadly and so coolly at the same time. He’s doing that uber-composed thing, where he’s lacquered over with varnish and polish and glass. Vibrant and vivid and fucking fascinating but… untouchable. Unreachable. Unknown.
Or: 5 times Daniel couldn't catch Armand, post-turning, +1 (so many) time(s) he did.

Summary
Danny was sitting in class when a three-year-old Ellie crashed through the window, badly hurt. His ghost instincts kick into overdrive and he barricades himself in the closet with her, refusing to let anyone even look at his daughter.
He wasn't thinking about how that would look to outsiders. He was only thinking about Ellie. Ellie, bleeding green and de-aged somehow. Ellie who had extensive medical problems that only Vlad really knew the extent of. Ellie, who needed help that Danny couldn't give her.
He names Vlad as her emergency contact out of desperation, and the situation spirals from there.
