    It's been eighteen years since outbreak day and for the last eight, Lana's been living in Boston's QZ but the itch of wondering what else is out there has always bothered her. Others around her have told her stories of places out west that could give her everything she's been wanting. She hires a smuggler to help her get out of Boston to begin her new journey but after something goes horribly wrong, she quickly realizes that she might be in way over her head and in need of help.

    Chapters alternate between two timelines. One is Lana's journey with Joel in 2031 and the other is her dealing with finding Jackson in 2034 and finding out someone from her past arrived just a week earlier.
