Subterfuge (noun): deception by artifice or stratagem in order to conceal, escape, or evade.
They had returned the bolt, and the helm. Now, they were waiting to meet with Chiron to tell him about Clarisse. The best time would be before the celebrations began. When everyone would be running around doing last minute preparations for it, so that no one would notice that Percy, Luke, and Chiron weren’t there. Or at least Percy thought that was the plan. Now, now he isn’t so sure.

"Have you noticed anything that seems off about Percy lately?" Piper asked Jason.
"Huh?"
Jason followed her line of sight down the table to the son of Poseidon. He watched as Percy yawned while dumping an entire container of syrup on his blue waffle, effectively soaking his whole plate with the sticky substance.
"I'm pretty sure the only thing off about Percy is that ungodly amount of syrup he's using." Jason reasoned.
Piper shook her head, "No, it's something else. He just seems to be on edge about something—I can tell."
I think we can all agree that Percy and Jason's talk underwater after meeting Kym left something to be desired (Blood of Olympus). But this isn't a bash Jason Grace fic for not taking some of what Percy said very seriously. Jason just needs a little help from his awesome girlfriend to think over Percy's words in a new light. And maybe finally afterwards Annabeth will finally be able to have a serious talk with Percy about Tartarus.

But now they'll never have to confront that fear again. So when Percy comes to them in floods of tears, grips so tight and mourns for the end of his mortality, Sally and Paul cry too. But they aren't tears of grief.
The five times Sally and Paul feared for Percy's life, and the one time they knew they've never have to worry again.
