ABANDONED
Ch.2 is what I had written already, and a summary of how the story would have ended.****
“Come to the future with me.”Dave freezes, rearing back to look Klaus in the eyes, searching for something and- whatever it is, he seems to find it.
“You’re serious.”
“I am.”
The silence is a yawning, gaping thing that Klaus balances on the edge of, trying to hold steady, waiting.
And finally, after minutes or seconds or years, between one heartbeat and the next, Dave smiles, and it’s like the sun bracketing the stars, blinding and beautiful and all-consuming.
“Yes,” Dave breathes emphatically. “Fuckin’ hell, darlin’, but I ain’t ever wanted t’do anythin’ more.”

Fifty years in the future, or nine, or maybe a whole goddamn lifetime, Five Hargreeves holds a directive from the Handler in trembling fingers, pressing a hand to his bloodied, aching side as he reads aloud:
”Kill David Katz.”

“What’s going on here, Munson?” Steve asks, brows raised, and Eddie groans and sinks to the floor, legs stretched out akimbo in front of him.
“Nothing,” he grumbles, and he doesn’t even have to look at Steve’s face to feel the eye roll he’s getting in response. It’s like, a psychic attack or something, the weight of Steve’s exasperated incredulity.
“Nothing,” Steve echoes, and drops himself to the ground between Eddie’s spread legs, criss-cross with his diploma flung carelessly onto the dirty kitchen tile. “Try that again for me, Ed.”

Uneven chunks of hair are missing, like some drunk bastard took scissors to it with a whole lotta anger and too little care, and Wayne’s heart aches.
“I didn’t have anywhere else to go,” Eddie says, eyes damp and lip wobbling, but there’s a stubborn jut to his jaw that Wayne’d recognize in a heartbeat.
“C’mon in, kid,” he says, keeping all that softness he wants to let in behind his teeth, ‘cause he knows that kid’ll run before he lets himself trust anything soft.

Summary
It starts in Klaus’s hands, curled around each fingertip, wrapping around his wrists, fading out once it reaches his elbows; it’s writhing, pulsing like some sort of agonized living creature in time with the beat of his heart.
It intensifies again as it reaches his neck, color burning brightly through his veins, until, finally, it’s at its brightest in his eyes, washing out their natural green entirely until all that’s left is endless, blinding blue.
The only thing Five can think to compare it to is the all-encompassing white of Viktor’s power.
“Klaus-” Five tries, but Klaus talks over him like he didn’t hear him.
“Touch him, or try to speak to Allison,” he says, and his voice isn’t just his voice but theirs, every single ghost speaking with him in eerie synchrony. “And I’ll make Viktor’s powers feel like mercy.”

Or, Klaus bends this new universe to his will and snatches Dave from 1969. But not all is well; the universe isn’t meant to be broken, and while Klaus will do whatever it takes to protect his new life, his siblings will do whatever it takes to protect this new universe from him.
