Juno hates this, he thinks as he curls up tighter and watches the acidic rain drip down onto the concrete floor. He hated it at Ma’s, he hated it at the hospital, and he hated it at the group home especially, and he hates it here in this moldy basement.
Juno is nine years old and he feels like half of himself is missing. It’s been thirty-nine days since Juno has seen Benzaiten and he feels like he is going to explode. He’s a resourceful kid, at least that’s what the caseworker lady said, and he is not gonna cry. He’s gonna find Benzaiten and they’re gonna live together and take care of each other like Ma said to, no matter what.
Just as soon as the rain stops.
(sarah goes too far, and juno and ben are put into foster care. after running away from a particularly awful group home, nine-year-old juno stumbles into one of jet's post-heist hiding places.)

Summary
Juno Steel isn't some damsel in distress or a princess locked in a tower. He's a goddamn medical marvel, and he's spent over two-thirds of his life in a Dark Matters facility by choice... mostly. It doesn't matter if the door is locked from the outside, because he isn't trying to open it. This is for the greater good, and some days he even feels like it's worth it.

Thrust into a new, unfamiliar prison guarded by criminals with unknown motives, Juno will have to keep his secrets on lock until someone finds him and brings him back. But when he discovers the manipulation and deception underlying his long-term imprisonment at Dark Matters, will Juno still want to be found? And, more importantly, does what Juno wants even matter in the first place?

Summary
Jet’s no genius but he knows machines. He hears the noise of pressure building, something close to combustion. “Get down!” he shouts into his comms, but he’s interrupted by a cacophony of sights and sounds.
There’s a spark of light, a burst of flame, and the metal column in the middle of the room explodes. The static of his comms malfunctioning in his ear is jarring but another sound makes his heart stop. Juno lets out a sharp noise of pain and out of the corner of his eye Jet can see the lady hit the ground hard.

When the universe narrows to just him and the Ruby7, and the chaos of the everyday goings on of the Carte Blanche are locked behind the same impenetrable bars that lock the Unnatural Disaster far, far away from where he can hurt anybody.
Mornings on the Carte Blanche are usually Jet’s favorite time of day, which was more apt back before they added a seventh, rather feathery member to their crew, Juno's 'Husband', who seems to be as unruly and petulant as his owner.
