“New person!” Lala said behind him. “Overworlder!”
Okay, so that’s why she was running. That was—Technoblade didn’t think their sounder had seen an overworlder since he’d been a shoat, at least. Several different bastion-locations ago. He made an interested sound, untangling the strider’s head-string from the rock.
    “He flew like a ghast!”
The strider, now freed, nipped the fungus out of his hand and ambled off onto the lava. Bruh.
“He’s part ghast, and he’s really short, he’s only just a tiny bit taller than me,” Lala said, delighted to be the bearer of so much information. “And his boots say he’s got gold and items to trade both, and he has gold hair and a flat face like a ghast, and he has lots of earrings but they don’t make any sense at all but he looks very rich, and he doesn’t know how to talk at all.”

“Ready for lunch?” Crowley drops to his knees to start unbuckling the straps on the basket as though this is something they do all the time; as though he hasn’t just effortlessly catapulted Aziraphale back in time almost fifty years.

“You remembered,” Aziraphale breathes as wonder courses through him. He mentioned something once during an awkward moment, half a century ago, and now here kneels a demon atop a picnic blanket.

“Hmm?” Crowley barely shoots him a sidelong glance as he concentrates on opening the basket.

Aziraphale’s eyes do not move from him. “You remembered,” he repeats, no less stunned. “Crowley, you really didn’t have to.”

Crowley’s hands still. Eventually, his eyes still on the basket, he murmurs, “Well, we did The Ritz, didn’t we?”

    Summary

Techno’s heart lurched when he found him. He’d known Phil had had a bad time on this last mission, that was why he’d come after him in the first place-- Phil not reporting in was kind of a bad sign– but he’d looked for him in the med bay first, not in the far reaches of the Antarctic Stronghold. Some of the hallways Techno had come down to get here had been so dusty he could still see mob tracks, undisturbed since the original settlement.

Philza’s bright yellow hair was growing in a different color at the roots, paler blond like sunlight over an open sea. When he finally looked up at Techno, his eyes were shifting too, acquiring a brighter shade of blue, the structure of his face subtly altered.

Unsurprising considering how much time they've spent there, both preferring the comfort of Eddie's trailer, to their own houses.

“So how long did your reign last then?”

“Oh, I wasn’t exactly keeping track, you know!”

His eyes are so shifty. Crowley has missed this menace more than air.

“Come on, an estimate then. A guess. I’m assuming you were in training for at least a week - “

“A month.” Aziraphale immediately slaps a hand over his mouth, whereas Crowley’s drops open in delight.

    “A month!”

“It was really quite excessive,” he replies. “I mean, a whole month to discuss ‘policy changes’! I may not have been stationed there for a few millennia, but honestly. Why did I need to spend a month being told all of the rules that they brought me up in the first place to change?”

Crowley refuses to allow the deflection, feeling more delight than he knows what to do with. “You’ve only been gone for a month and a half! What on earth did you DO?”
