The two of them sat in silence, and Quinn found himself surprised at how comfortable it felt. Morris wasn't looking at him. His face was turned, watching the different people pass them by, but with only a passing interest as if his mind was elsewhere. Perhaps thinking about him, Quinn thought, and he realized he was suddenly very glad for his friend's company. There was something comforting and calming in just having him seated next to him, and maybe he didn't really feel so sorry for himself after all.
Then Morris turned, and smiled quietly at him, and Quinn thought his eyes were very large and bright and handsome.
