Summary
Absently, Ruby is aware of Saccharina moving almost cautiously towards her—the way one might approach a wild animal. Ruby doesn’t even have it in her to send all of her anger and hate Saccharina’s way right now. She doesn’t know how to even begin to explain what she is feeling in this moment, other than the fact that she is dealing with an absence so loud that she doesn’t think she can even speak. Saccharina must intuit this, somehow.
(In the small part of her brain that isn’t overwhelmed by loss, Ruby considers that Saccharina, a girl that grew up alone, without a castle or her family, might actually know a thing or two about loss).

Coconut cream is Imogen’s favorite though. And there’s almost never a whole coconut cream pie left at the end of the day. And she absolutely pretends not to see the way his smile tightens as he looks at her when he tells them all, “Dig in!” And, even though she’s sure there’s a catch to it, she tucks herself into a big piece and snuggles up next to Laudna for their show that night.
