Summary
Violet Sorrengail had been preparing to be a scribe for as long as she can remember. Books and parchment, facts and history were to be her world. But when her father died a little over a year before her Conscription Day, she discovered a hidden note he had sealed inside the book of fables he read to her as a kid. Thrust into the Riders Quadrant under her mother’s command, Violet arrives armed with theories and burning questions. She suspects her father’s death is connected to the folklore of venin and wyvern recounted in the book of fables he chose to leave the note in. As Violet steps onto the parapet, she knows survival means more than claiming a dragon—it means uncovering the truths her father died to protect.
