Summary
Several years have passed since Mike and Richie escaped the Lab and with the help of the Party managed to close the Gate part 2 (as if the first time around hadn’t been fuckingly stressful and traumatizing enough). They’re graduating high school and getting ready to enjoy their last summer together before starting college. It’s a new exciting chapter in their life, right?
If only their lives could stick with the plan of normalcy. Stupid mother fucking clowns. Fuck, did he hate them with all his being. And no, Richie does not have the time or wherewithal to slow down and explain why. He just really is going to have to kill it this time around.

One of the most eloquent and painfully beautiful Mileven fics I've read (multiple times!) It starts off cute and funny and both Mike and El are endearingly awkward but each chapter is poignant and the whole arc will absolutely blow you away and have you in tears before you finish. Without even mentioning the word, this is about what soulmates Mike and El are. Will thinks of theirs as "... the dangerous, almost unhealthy reality that one couldn’t truly live without the other - not anymore. The thought that such a thing could exist broke Will’s heart even as it made it sing."

Synopsis:
Mike had always known deep in his gut that the closing of the Gate and the shutting down of Hawkin’s Lab didn’t mean that the Party was free and clear of all that the Lab had been working on. Sure, the monsters, such as the Mind Flayer and the demogorgons, may have been locked on one side of the Gate while the rest of the Hawkin’s population remained safely on the other side, but there were more than one type of monsters. And the ones that trouble him now are the human adult kind.
Richie had been hoping that the troubles were actually over. It had been tough enough surviving one bastard of a clown, his mother’s death, and adjusting to one very new, very traditional “healthy” family. He really didn’t need more stress, thank you very fucking much. But no one’s asked him for his opinion and all he knows is that as long as Mikey and him are together, at least there’s a fighting chance. Right?

The second part of an amazingly detailed, thoughtful study about what a future after ST2 would be like if it turns out that Mike Wheeler and Richie Tozier are twins and their mom (not Karen!) was part of the same study that Terry Ives took part in. The writing is brilliant, the stories have such sweetness and wonder and love of the characters that you will cheer and cry (in the same chapter!) I'm reminded of Shawn Levy talking about how much the Duffers love their characters and DaineYui loves them as much as the Duffers AND Stephen King.
