“Shit.” George caught the fork at the last second. His heart was racing, but he suspected it had more to do with the question than almost losing the utensil in boiling water. “What’d you say?”
“You and Dream.” Sapnap’s small smirk was audible. “Are you together?”
Or, despite being soulmates, they do nothing about it (well, okay, maybe not nothing).

Summary
Something is thrown into his lap. “Hey-” he looks up in a mixture of confusion and annoyance.
“Chisel knife. To carve your weapons.” The guy smiles a wonky smile, and green-grey eyes bore curiously into his own. Not seen you before, they say. “If you were paying attention you’d know what was going on.”
“I was paying attention,” George bites out. He already dislikes this guy with his know-it-all manner and...nice eyes. “I’m just having a bad day.”
“You poor thing,” the guy says, dirty blond hair falling into his eyes as he looks down at where George is sitting on the grass. “It’s probably going to get worse.”
In a war against a neighbouring district, the troops are split up into groups of two hundred. George is mesmerised by his group's commander: a captivating enigma with a stupid name.

Summary
"How can I know you’re a star?”
Instead of answering with words, Dream grinned, bright and overly confident, and closed his eyes. It took him a second, but then he started glowing, impossibly bright and warm, light pouring out of him in soft waves that escalated until George had to squint his eyes. Dream started to dissolve around the edges of his vision, and George was shocked into silence.
“There. Was that enough?”
Holy shit. George had found the star.
Or: A star falls. George, a dime-in-a-dozen farmboy, sets out on a journey to retrieve it.
