"If you go after any of my clients--" He started in a threatening tone that they both knew he wouldn't-- couldn't-- act on, and Seven chuckled deep in his chest.
"Is that your final answer?" He asked playfully, getting to his feet and making his way back to Abrams' side. The demon's tail, which had been lashing back and forth since he'd caught sight of Seven in his window, stilled momentarily as he seemed to come to a realization.
"You're here to annoy me," he said disbelievingly. The convict blinked innocently, his self-satisfied grin giving him away. Abrams' tail resumed its stressed movements beneath his coat and that migraine he'd predicted five minutes ago decided to make an early arrival. "Jesus Christ, you're a fucking nightmare."

I hesitated. Three waited. The thing was, these “improvements” weren’t necessary for the maintenance process. In fact, they were probably going to emotionally compromise one or both of us and make everything harder than it had to be. The smart, logical, reasonable thing to do would be to answer a negative and proceed with maintenance in a more standard/efficient way. Weirdly, though, that idea dropped my performance reliability by a whole percentage.
So maybe I wasn’t feeling very smart/logical/reasonable. I told Three Confirm before I could talk myself out of it.

Let’s start with the good part.
I accidentally helped Three (who was also helped by Ratthi and Bharadwaj) invent trauma recovery modules for murderbots. ART unhelped at first, but then it helped. I keep saying help too much but I’m not fucking changing it again, it’s been two hours. Anyways.
The bad part is everything else that had to happen first. Sane people shouldn’t get anywhere near a SecUnit’s worst memories, which is what we did so you don’t have to. Though I guess if you need the modules, you do have to. That’s kind of the point.Well, don’t worry about all the atrocities. There’s no way yours can be worse than mine.

New York is a dangerous place these days. When you’d made as many enemies as Detective Abrams had, you couldn’t count on having a single moment of peace. Must you stumble, let your guard down for a mere second - and a certain someone is already lurking around the corner, waiting for the opportunity.
This has been going on for so long that Abrams should've learned to ignore Seven, and Seven should've gotten bored out of the ever-repeating pattern of their encounters, yet there's something they don't seem to get enough of, for a reason that evades them both.
