Even with blood drying under his nose and on his bottom lip, his hair a mess, sweat and crimson mixing in drops from his forehead down his face—all Regulus can think is how beautiful this man is.
It vibrates through his body like a sin.
James won’t look at him–he’s staring hard into the ground, something unnerved and angry furrowing his brows together. Regulus crouches down in front of him, lifting his hands to place them carefully on each side of James’ face, guiding it until James is looking him in the eye.
Regulus wants to yell at him. But his thumbs caress James’ face at their own accord. And it hits him then in his bones—he’s a lamb to the slaughter. He hates James for it. But there’s something else, something worse. Something gentle.
