    Summary

Jason Todd goes to Titan's Tower to send a message. He won’t kill Robin there, no—that wouldn’t be poetic enough. Instead, he’ll torture the cuckoo to death and dump his body in the Nevada desert, never to be found—ensuring he has enough fingers and toes to mail Bruce for the next twenty years.

Only when the time comes, Jason…can’t do it.

Now he’s stranded 3,000 miles from Gotham, with nothing but a smart-mouthed Robin, a beat-up pickup truck, and a dream.

You know what they say—take me home, country roads.

    Or,

Jason goes to Titans Tower to attack Tim. Instead, the two road-trip across the country from San Fransisco back to Gotham. Featuring greasy diner food, shitty motels, talks about trauma in the bed of a pickup truck, and as many metaphors about roads as I can possibly cram in here.

    OR OR,

Jason drives forever and ends up exactly where he started.

If there were some recourse, I would take it. A clumsily made elephant in my open hand, a smoothing out, finding the impurities, then removing them piece by piece. And then, to be satisfied with what remains.

Somewhere in my memory, a fish in the sink is dying slowly. My mother and I watch as the water runs down.

// or Regulus Black writes about his mother and his past. I imagine him as an avid journal-writing guy //

    Summary

“How long?” Jason can’t keep the growl out of his voice. Because, alright, he knows what goes on on the streets. And this boy certainly isn’t the last child he’s ever gonna find turning tricks or whatever he’s doing out here alone. But he’s never had one looking at him like that.

Tim shuffled his feet, looking at the ground. It makes him look like a little kid.

“Um, a couple years. I’m sorry.”

Or: Jason runs into Tim around the Alley, during the time he's still Robin. He draws some incorrect conclusions. And decides he needs to get this kid off the streets as soon as possible.

    Summary

    "Hey, Red."

Tim flinches with his whole body.

Red Hood watches him from the landing above, he discovers upon tilting his head up. The thought wanders through his swimming head that it isn't fair how quietly the man moves. Jason must outweigh Tim by an infuriating margin, and he hadn't heard the rusted metal groan even once.

"Hood," he says. It slurs past his fangs and a tingling mouthful of venom. The scent of human is filtering down to him in the wake of old cigarettes. Warm, mouth-watering, an edge of musk that tightens his gut.

"This is, no shit, the sixth time I've caught you out here," says Red Hood.

    Summary

“…He gave Robin to Damian,” Tim finally says.

Jason freezes mid-step, like the world has lagged around him.

“…What do you mean he gave Robin to Damian?”

Tim sighs, letting the binoculars drop against his chest. “I mean, he didn’t ask me. He just handed it over.”

Jason turns fully toward him. “You didn’t give it up?”

Tim barks a humourless little laugh. “Why would I have done that?”

    ····•····

“What are you— would you stop trying to hit me?” Dick snaps.

Jason laughs, bitter and sharp. “Remember all those times you tried to beat the shit out of me whenever I upset Timbers?”

“You mean those times when I totally did beat the hell out of you?” Dick says, rolling his shoulders like it's nothing.

Jason ignores that. Of course he does. Always has to act like he's better.

“I thought I’d follow your lead,” Jason says.

OR: Bruce is back from the dead but that doesn’t mean all is well. Dick has fucked things up royally with Tim and Jason isn’t here for it.
