Summary
Ici, les nuages se mélangent à l’eau, she tells Gabby, describing the way the clouds and the sea blur into the horizon, the wind and the light sand, the beauty of the fifty-meter-high cliffs and the grass that, even in the summer, never burns. J’espère que tu pourras venir bientôt, she writes and lies (lieslieslies), often, because God knows she does not, in fact, hope that her sister will be able to come soon. With all her might, with everything that she holds dear and all the courage that she can muster, Fleur prays to all that is holy that Gabby never, ever, sets foot here.
(Here is a place where house-elves die, where the tremors run down Hermione’s spine, and it is not a place for a child.)

Summary
When news had come home that Bill had gotten Ravenclaw, Arthur and Molly had shared a look but sent Bill a congratulatory letter and some newly knitted blue mittens. “He was always too smart for me,” Arthur had said, and Molly had hummed.
“Hufflepuff, it’s a… nice… House,” Molly had said the next year, searching in her knitting basket for a shade of yellow she didn’t dislike too badly while Arthur looked over the friendly little missive from Pomona Sprout. How had she ended up with so many ugly threads? They must have been gifts; she wouldn’t have bought this pastel mustard skein, even at a 90% discount.
“You know,” said Arthur, later, as they watched the Express carry Percy away to his first year at Hogwarts. “I don’t think Perce is gonna be the one to break the streak.”
“So it’s a streak, is it?” Molly said, keeping an eye on the twins, who were chasing pigeons she was hoping they wouldn’t manage to catch. It was making Ginny’s day, though, the little girl covering her laughter with her fists, so she wasn’t stopping them yet.
“I think it is now,” he said.

Summary
Through all of it, Harry stands at the back of the room. He stares straight ahead, quiet, hands shoved deep inside the pockets of the Gryffindor jumper that someone’s lent him. Very few of his things are truly his, these days. The morning after they got back, Ginny watched him from her bedroom window, up at four o’clock in the morning. He walked out of the house like he didn’t want to be in it and burnt all the clothes that Hermione had packed months ago in her tiny, beaded bag. ‘It all smells like damp,’ he said. Like blood, like fear and like the war.

Summary
"Were you really dead?" she breathes, so low he would have missed it if he wasn’t so close to her.
He looks up, balancing his chin where his forehead had been on her shoulder.
"Out in front of the castle?” he asks. She nods. “No. But before, in the forest…" he trails off and looks out at the tops of the trees in the forest swaying slightly, the branches just barely discernible against the inky black sky.
Ginny twists a little to look down at him. It’s the first time she's looked at him directly since he spotted her. Looking into the warm, achingly familiar brown gives him a sudden surge of resolve.
"In the forest…" he begins again, "Yes.”
Her breathing stops.
“A little,” he adds quickly. “I think."
How I imagine some of the hours in which to talk played out for Harry and Ginny after the battle.
