Summary
In an effort to get Max off her back, Grace invites him to a "date" at Waylon Hall in an effort to scare him off. But, when the crumbling floorboards sends Max to his early demise, Grace believes her problem to be solved. Until, he returns as a ghost that only she can see and hear and, even worse, who can't get more than 30 feet away before he forcibly teleports back to her side. Through their efforts to figure out how to send Max to the next plane, they grow closer and learn more about the person they didn't know that well in the first place. But, digging deeper into the mystery may lead them straight to danger that lurks in the heart of this town.

Summary
Steph cheats off of Peter's quiz nearing the end of their freshman year, long before Max had full control over the Hatchetfield High students. When Max never falls and realizes that he has not been happy in a long time, he goes to the nerds to become a better person and find that spark again. Max's change of heart helps Grace discover that she may not be happy leading the life she has always known. The group has the entire summer to remake Max, to help Grace realize the life she wants to lead, to all grow closer as friends and maybe something more, and to figure out how to survive their upcoming sophomore year.
But, the strange thing about Hatchetfield is that when you remove yourself from your decided destiny, you may be entangled in one you aren't the star of. Unbeknownst to the group, but their time is running out.
