Summary
Something's going on here. And Buck sure isn't helping, what with his incessant gazing out the window to where he can see Hen and Eddie collapsing into giggles in each other's arms, Hen grinning widely and Eddie now stripped down to his tank. God, his arms are huge, now. When did that happen? And why didn't Buck notice sooner? Why did he have to notice at all?
Things were way better before Buck realized he wanted to sink his teeth into his best friend's biceps and lick the sweat off his neck and eat him out until he cried.
(Or, Chris notices something off about Buck and calls him out on it.)

Summary
"Ididn'thateit," he admits in a rush. There. He said it. The guy—Zane. Right. Zane's eyes had flicked over to him, appreciative. Appraising. Unsubtle. Brazenly obvious as he'd checked Eddie out, and Eddie's belly had gone hot, his skin crackling with electricity, and he'd gulped at the shockingly intense physical reaction his body was having and could think nothing except for I need to get out of here.
He has no excuse. No explanation.
"Oh," Buck says. "I didn't, um. That's—that's cool, if you. Do you, or, uh. I won't call them, but if you want, I can give you his number?"
"No," Eddie says, too fast.

Summary
Shane definitely doesn't look okay. As he heads to his still-made bed, Hayden catches a glimpse of his eyes. They look bloodshot and strained, and as Shane tears through his duffel bag and grits out, "I'm taking a shower," Hayden hears the rasp in his voice.
"Shane."
"What," Shane snaps, yanking off his shirt. Then he freezes, holding onto it with both hands like he's only realized what he's been wearing, and says with equal vehemency, "Fuck," and flings it toward the headboard. "Fuck!" He says again, louder.
(Or, Shane gets back to his hotel room after running away from Ilya's place in Boston and panics. Hayden is also there.)

He turns, and there she is. Of course she is. Barely even winded, or sweating from all the work she's been doing. It is woefully unfair, he thinks, how pretty she is. "Oh. Hi."
"Hi," she says, one eyebrow lifting fractionally. "Oh, good. I was hoping there wasn't a huge lineup for the—"
"Coffee," he interrupts, holding it out.

Summary
Buck's brain is a tornado of confusion and muddled thoughts. "What? Wait, hold on, you're upset that I helped Harry?" He spins, tries to catch Eddie's arm, and only manages a brief touch to his wrist before Eddie yanks it away, eyes blazing fire, and scoffs.
"No, I'm not upset that you helped Harry. Christ." Eddie drags a hand over his face. "It's just rich that somehow you know exactly just what everyone needs and how to help them." He sighs. "Everyone but me."

Summary
“Okay, silly goose. I think it’s time for you to drink some water and get to bed.”
“You need to make a wish, first,” Buck tells him, arguing.
Eddie’s smile widens to show his teeth, and Buck grins. Victory. “It’s your birthday, not mine!”
(It's Buck's birthday. Eddie needs to make a wish.)

Summary
“You weren’t a dick,” Buck says after a long moment, staring down at the kitchen floor from where he’s propped against the counter. He doesn’t look upset, or resentful. He looks deep in thought.
“Ehh, debatable,” Eddie returns, making a so-so gesture.
“You weren’t.”
“I kinda was.”
“Well,” Buck argues, “then I was, too.”
(or, Buck knows a grand gesture when he sees one, and acts accordingly.)

Summary
“It’s interesting,” he continues, keeping his voice mild. “You’ve been either not looking at me at all, or looking at me like—”
This grabs Buck’s attention. He stops in his tracks, and a fork clatters into the cutlery tray as he stiffens, and darts another glance. This one lingers for a fraction of a second longer before it cuts away, and then flies back, and Eddie meets it with a resolute calm.
“Like what?” Buck asks, whisper-delicate as a dragonfly’s wings. His eyes widen, impossibly blue and nervously panicked. His fingers curl into his palms. He swallows again.
Eddie says, “Like you’re in love with me.”
(Or, Eddie pays attention.)

Summary
“Did… Did you forget something?”
“No, I, uh.” Your stomach flutters with inexplicable nerves. “I’m driving.” Obviously.
“Right, yeah.” His guaranteed question hangs in the air, waiting to be answered.
So… why did you call me?
You’re grasping for words. Why are you grasping for words? Your eyes drift to your white-knuckled grip on the steering wheel, hands religiously curled tight at the ten and two position. Your stomach flutters, and flutters, and flutters. “That—that was weird, right? When I left?”

Summary
Buck clenches his teeth, opens his mouth to speak, and Eddie can’t help the “Ha,” that bursts out, feeling petty and spiteful. “Christ, no wonder you imprinted on the dog—you’re exactly the same! Desperate for some attention, any way you can get it, huh? Rolling over and begging didn’t work, so you’re biting fingers and tearing up the furniture, cause it’s aaaaall about you. Maybe what you need is a fucking chain and muzzle.”
The reaction is instantaneous. Buck inhales sharply, raggedly. A flush creeps over his cheekbones and his mouth drops open, his tongue darting out to sweep over his lower lip. His eyes widen, go startled and hazy, like he’s—
Eddie watches him shift his shoulders, his feet, and it hits him like a truck.
Arousal. Buck is—he’s turned on.

Summary
“Sure,” is Eddie’s sarcastic comeback, “What are you going to do, help me get off?”
Buck opens his mouth, but nothing comes out. It’s just…
Silent.
Shit. Shit. He needs to say something, otherwise this’ll get awkward real fast. It’s just that…
It’s that he could, is the thing.
He’d do that. For Eddie. Really, he wouldn’t mind. At all.
[Or, Eddie is stressed and has trouble... unwinding, while in El Paso. Buck helps. Like a good friend would.]

Summary
It’s only when the table’s been cleared and Chris has excused himself to shower and brush his teeth that Eddie says, “I couldn’t have done this without you,” while they tag-team the dishes (Buck washes, Eddie dries and puts away).
“Oh, good,” Buck jokes, “That was the goal. Helping.” He’s making light of it, but in actuality, it’s the truth. Eddie woke up and didn’t know who he was, aside from the fact that this huge stranger was his medical proxy, was responsible for his son, and had stuff all over his house.
Buck, naturally, had panicked. Slapped on a mask of cheer and serenity, vowing that he wouldn’t cause Eddie any stress or confusion. He’d explained their history in brief terms to Eddie once he had managed to stay awake for more than ten minutes at a time and stepped in with an ease only matched by what had occurred after Eddie had been shot, albeit with a great deal of internal hesitancy that he hadn’t told anyone about, because this time Eddie wasn’t aware. This time, Eddie hadn’t known him. He was a stranger.
(Or, Eddie has amnesia, Buck struggles.)

Summary
Gun to his head, Buck honestly doesn't think he could say which one of them made the first move, but somewhere in between the six-pack he'd brought over and whatever was left of a dusty bottle of tequila in the back of a kitchen cupboard, Eddie—beautiful, radiant Eddie, with his pink shirt and tiny underwear—had ended up in his lap, thighs bracketing Buck's, gasping and grinding helplessly into Buck's hips, the most delicious whines spilling out of his mouth and straight onto Buck's tongue, white-hot pleasure spiking through him as potent as the lightning bolt, so he figures he'll at least die happy.
(Or, Buck and Eddie hook up at the end of "Confessions".)

Summary
“You never, ever hurt me, Eddie,” Buck whispers, so soft that he has to lean in so he can hear her.
“What?” He’s half-disbelieving, half-processing too fucking slowly.
Another long, slow breath. Then she rolls, Eddie instinctively turning away before he realizes she’s keeping herself tucked in and covered, but looking at him with her gorgeous blue eyes and an expression so sweet and open that he wants to hold her in his arms more than anything on earth.
“I said,” she says, holding eye contact in a way that’s defiant and a little bit of something else he can’t identify, “you’ve never hurt me. You could never hurt me. You wouldn’t.”
(or, Eddie is a massage therapist, Buck is his client, and feelings are involved.)

Summary
"Hurry up!” And with a speed that quite frankly shocks Eddie into silence, Chris zooms toward the roped-off section that holds a mini-forest of trees. “Dad! Come on!”
Eddie threads through the crowd to catch up, shaking his head and laughing. “Coming!”
“There’s so many!” Chris’s eyes are huge and his expression is dazzled and his exclamation catches the attention of a figure nearby, bent over to adjust the price tag near the base of one of the trees. They stand and turn, and for the second time in less than five minutes, Eddie is speechless, because in front of them now stands what Adriana would probably call “a brick shithouse” of a man.
Seriously, he looks every bit a lumberjack.
(Or, an AU where Eddie and Chris need a real Christmas tree, and Buck sells them! Also, there's flirting.)

Summary
Now they’ve arrived at house number five, and Eddie finally snaps. “What is your problem?” He turns to Buck suddenly, interrupting Mariana mid-answer. She gapes at them, startled into silence, but neither of them are looking at her, so she takes a second to compose herself while watching Buck’s eyes go wide and his body twist towards Eddie.
“What?”
“You’re being difficult.”
“No I’m not,” Buck argues immediately.

Summary
Buck lets out a heavy sigh, and when he speaks, his voice is unsteady. “I’m starting to think that… maybe I’m not meant for the things that I want. Maybe it’s time for me to manage my expectations.”
Manage his—jesus. Is that what he thinks? Does he think he’ll never get to be happy?
His words act as a crowbar, cracking Eddie’s rib cage open to expose his heart, beating to the sound of Buck’s name. Buck Buck Buck Buck Buck Buck Buck. Eddie wants, nonsensically, to carve out all his insides to make room for Buck to crawl inside where it’s warm and safe and where Eddie can protect him from the relentless, persistent hurt that is Buck’s own insecurities and deep-rooted trauma.
(Or, Buck thinks he'll never get his happily ever after. Eddie begs to differ.)
