Everyone knows that the way to check if someone is Quirkless is to see if they have two joints in their pinky toe. It's the sign that the person has no Quirk- that they haven't reached the next stage in evolution that most people have.
However, most people don't realize that there are *other* differences between the Quirked and the Quirkless, other parts that haven't evolved.Or: 5 times 1-A thinks Midoriya is dying and/or sick, and the 1 time the truth is (partially) spilled.

Your son forged evidence, he could tell her. Your son could’ve gotten me disbarred eight months ago and he hasn’t even mentioned it, let alone apologised.
Apollo won’t act like he doesn’t hold a grudge. He could easily ruin their perfect relationship with one staunch confession - but he can’t bring himself to tell her. She’s been nothing but lovely to him, after all, and it’s not like he’s ever had a mother figure himself. He can't pretend he isn't jealous. It’s the kind of love that he yearned for when he would lie curled up in his bed in the foster home, thinking about happy families and white picket fences.
There aren’t any fences outside the Wright Anything Agency. Just some withered bushes, Phoenix’s battered-looking bike locked onto the lamppost, and a scarcely-used trash can. But it’s a family, and it's the kind of family Apollo had always wanted.
or: phoenix's mother visits the agency for christmas. it brings up a lot of feelings, and a lot of overdue conversations.
