One night, a mysterious stranger turns up and changes everything. He promises to bring Arthur's daughter back to life if Arthur will agree to play a piece of music in an orchestra.

Recently, without any particular inciting incident that he can think of, Charlie stopped having nightmares.
He tentatively allows himself to think it’s a sign of recovery, and like every other sign of recovery it is a disorienting, uncertain thing. Because Charlie does dream—frequently and vividly—and even if he isn’t waking up screaming, it’s become increasingly difficult to differentiate them from reality.
